Job Purpose

The Senior Data Scientist is instrumental in helping the company continue its evolution into an analytical and data-driven culture. Additionally, the Senior Data Scientist will:

1. synthesise and leverage the business’s dataset and data to enhance the business’ capabilities for overall goal achievement;

2. oversee the junior data scientists’ activities and provide advanced expertise on statistical and mathematical concepts for the Data Science & AI unit;

3. apply and inspire the adoption of advanced data science and analytics across the business.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Build scalable, re-usable, impactful data science products and solutions (particularly in areas such as machine learning) for the data science team.

• Conduct advanced data analysis and complex designs algorithm that leads to findings, including new information.

• Delve into the data of different systems, structured and unstructured, both in batch and in real-time, to discover hidden relationships and valuable information.

• Apply rigorous statistical thinking to extract signals from noise.

• Experience with complex data modelling, ETL design, and using large databases in a business environment.

• Undertake data profiling and source system analysis and present clear insights to colleagues to support the end-use of the data.

• Establish & maintain Data Quality Scorecards to proactively monitor and report on data quality to relevant stakeholders;

• Provide data-driven guidance and recommendations on strategic questions or improvements around data quality.

• Design and analyse experiments and success metrics to identify causal links between data quality measures and business outcomes.

• Ability to optimise the code to ensure processes perform optimally.

• Coach, mentor, and support the data science team on the full range of end-to-end data science and solutions development activities.

• Communicate complex ideas in a digestible way to the business.

• Collaborate and work across functional and multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic environment to develop an understanding of evolving/agile business needs.

• Track and resolve risks, issues, and action items throughout the project lifecycle.

• Create and maintain documentation relating to processes and procedures.


• BS/MS in Computer / Data Science, Mathematics, Applied Science, Statistics, AI or other quantitative Science/Engineering field. 

Competency Required

Technical Skills:

• 4+ years of experience in data science with advanced Python, R, VBA, and SQL skills.

• Experience in ETL and performing statistical or quantitative analysis.

• Experience with complex data modelling, ETL design, and using large databases in a business environment.

• Proven ability to wrangle large datasets, explore and utilise raw data feeds.

• Familiar with data visualisation stacks such as Tableau and PowerBI.

• Possess deep understanding and implementation experience of test models or techniques and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.

• Proficient in statistical analysis, quantitative analytics, forecasting/predictive analytics, multivariate testing, and optimisation algorithms.

• Competent in machine learning principles and techniques.

• Exposure to data quality framework.
