Job Description

Job Purpose

Lead the Strategy & Metaverse industry function in the Digital Content Development Department in a matured and organisation-focused manner, providing leadership in strategic planning, performance management and program development and execution for new project initiatives, monitoring existing programs and functions as well as providing data-driven insights for policy formulation.

Duties & Responsibilities

1.Strategic Planning: Provide strategic direction in the formulation of department plans aligned to thelong-term organisational plans as well as industry needs

  • Lead, plan & develop industry and ecosystem strategic direction in the development ofbusiness plans
  • Identify strategic issues based on analysis of the industry
  • Engage and influence stakeholders on the new strategic and tactical direction to leveragefrom emergent and disruptive creative technologies that can impact the Digital ContentEcosystem and the larger national Digital Economy
  • Provide strategic input into RMK and business planning activities to ensure alignment withmacro strategic plans
  • Oversee the mining and analysis of corporate data and the production of data driveninsights.
  • Oversee the research into benchmarking and best practices in the areas relevant to theindustry’s building blocks, and distilling from such researched information keyrecommendations for direction setting and industry acceleration
  • Facilitate the translation of strategic plans into actionable business plans and activities

2.Performance Management and Monitoring: Provide oversight and escalation management on implementation of programmes and projects to enable appropriate management decisions

  • Leading the Strategy and Metaverse industry engagement units to develop an effectiveresource towards effective portfolio strategy deployment and a coherent strategic directionfor the department
  • Linking potential investors to the local ecosystem in order to maximize their presence inMalaysia
  • Provide information to measure success of initiatives, and analysis for strategic decisionsand prioritization for the overall planning of the division
  • Evaluate and monitor programmes and projects to ensure alignment to strategic plans
  • Provide recommendations for course correction action plan to ensure achievement ofdeliverables
  • Prepare timely management reports to advise senior management on the progress againstplans, risks and issues

3.Platform & Programme Management: Ensure successful and effective delivery of initiatives andprojects

  • Lead the development, management and implementation of the Creative Technology,Metaverse and PEMANGKIN strategies, with alignment to the Divisional strategic plans
  • Ensure the Strategy and Industry engagement units are able to conduct effective monitoring of platforms and programmes including tactical deployment, indicators and processes as well as planning for risks, mediate and counsel for course correction to ensure achievement of deliverables
  •  Lead teams that can provide end-to-end management of selected projects which MDEC is the project lead, and support the Department goals and KPIs
  • Manage, coordinate and facilitate the management of multiple units, including budget and financial controls for programme funding and implementation

4. Operational Excellence: Ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness

  • Align goals of employee and unit
  • Determine performance level criteria
  • Monitor progress to ensure desired outcomes are achieved
  • Identify gaps and take remedial actions
  • Coordinates the overall operation of the division including overall planning, operation, staff and budget.
  • Coach, guide and provide direction to team members in their execution of the role.

5. Learning and Growth: Enhance personal and department member's development of skills and acquisition of knowledge

  • Participate in knowledge acquisition platforms in related areas
  • Actively grow the abilities and skill of the department members through formal training programs, mentor ship and hands on learning.
  • Provide an environment that fosters personal and professional growth for department members to encourage loyalty, openness of opinion and constant curiosity





Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years of working experience, with at least 10 years of management experience, having made significant decisions and resolving operational issues that have outcomes on business results.
  • Bachelor and/or Master Degree in any related field
